I often choose to offer Sacred Women's Circles on the New Moon, as I believe this is a powerful time to go inward, into our feminine self... into our Yin aspect. Yin is the dark, Yang is the light. Yin is the receptive principle, Yang is the expressive principle... Yin is the feminine, Yang is the masculine. They represent polar opposites, and a seed of each is within the other to create and maintain balance.
As we connect with our Divine Feminine / Yin aspect, we have the potential to seed our intentions for what we want to create for the coming moon/month within the Universal Womb, the Womb of All Creation. We can align ourselves with the power of natural cycles to grow, heal, or transform, whatever it is that we wish for ourselves or our life. The New Moon is the time when there is no moon visible in the sky. It is the time when the Moon rebirths a new lunar cycle. At this time the Moon is actually positioned between the Sun and the Earth. For anyone who plants their gardens or crops in accordance with moon cycles, you will understand that it is at this time that it is best to plant seeds, and it’s also a time when roots tend to grow, as opposed to the plant’s foliage. We too can harness this energy to seed our intentions for the coming month. Planting seeds of intention at a new moon mean that we can get the natural energy flow of growth behind our intent. As the energy of the moon increases over the coming weeks, our seeds of intention begin to manifest, grow and evolve in accordance with our path. Much like tending to any other seeds you plant, you can't just make an intention and expect it to sort itself out... sometimes a seed will be strong enough to get what it needs from nature and it will survive, but more often than not, if you want your seed to THRIVE you need to water and nurture the seed! Over the course of the Waxing Moon, as is shown in the picture above, you must nurture and support the growth of your intention by taking action towards helping it become a reality! The Full Moon is a time of greater Yang energy - its the full expression of the Moon, it is the plant in full bloom! During this time there can be greater illumination, heightened intuition and emotions, and hopefully the peaking of growth of your intention. And remember that not all intentions will manifest within the same moon cycle, some things require a longer growth and gestation period! The Waning Moon is a time of reaping the rewards of our growth and harvesting the fruits of our labour. It is a time to give thanks and celebrate our creation. During the last quarter of the moon, it is time for us to let go and release our creation, giving back to the Earth that which is no longer needed to fertilise the next cycle of growth. Each New Moon is in a different astrological sign (the same one as the current Sun sign) and therefore, to maximise your energetic alignment and success with each moon, you can learn more about what energies are associated with different planets so that you can refine your intentions to be aligned with these areas of life. For example, the next New Moon is in Aries, a Fire sign that is at the beginning of the Zodiac cycle. According to Jan Spiller from her book “New Moon Astrology”, Aries represents new beginnings, self-focus, innocence, authenticity, self-discovery, independence, courage, warrior nature, and disengaging self-absorption. You could align your wish or intention with one or more of these areas to maximise the benefits of the Aries energy. When creating an intention, it is always important to phrase it in the positive, and as if it has already happened. For example if you were struggling with expressing yourself due to fear, rather than saying “I want to stop struggling with self expression and stop being afraid”, you could reframe this to say what you WANT i.e. increase your courage to authentically express yourself. So you could word it as “I easily and courageously express myself with authenticity”. Allow the words to flow in your own way that feels right to you. During the Sacred Circle, we also have access to the power of group energy, meaning that whatever we choose to manifest, our collective intentions are magnified in their effect. The power of group energy can assist us to cultivate inspiration, creative and nurturing energy, healing or simply empower us with what we need to nourish ourselves and our seed of intent.
